Start Your Podcast Series The Easy Way

A lot of podcast traditionalists will tell you the only way to build your show is through weekly production. Others will take that belief one step further and say you need multiple episodes per week.

You can choose to buy in to these philosophies if you wish, but I encourage you to consider all potential avenues in respect of the time you have available to dedicate to your production, as well as the results you want your podcast to produce for your brand.

If your podcast is serving as a communication vehicle or sales tool for your business, producing new episodes every week isn’t necessarily a top priority. Additionally, this approach can demand time you don’t have at your disposal, causing you to disengage from the process, let other priorities slip through the cracks, and lose focus on what’s most important – brand growth and tangible results.

There are plenty of ways to skin the cat, and producing your podcast in a series-based format could be the exactly what you need to generate content that educates current and potential customers, as well as give you a wealth of re-purposable content to use for website copy, blogs, social media posts, paid ad strategies, email newsletters, and more.

What is a podcast series? A podcast series is a block of content dedicated to a specific subject, all designed to educate consumers, build trust, establish brand identity, push your message forward, and acquire new business. Instead of consolidating several subjects into one release, each episode takes a deeper, more comprehensive look at multiple points surrounding the subject, resulting in a more thorough and useful resource for listeners and viewers to utilize.

In the mean time, I joined Doug Downs for a short conversation on his Stories & Strategies YouTube channel to discuss the value of series-based podcasting. You can find that video above.

Notes From Doug’s YouTube Post

Is weekly podcasting a must? Or is the series format the smarter move?

Jason Cercone, the “series guy” of podcasting, shares why the traditional weekly release model might be outdated. Jason breaks down how podcast series provide creative flexibility, reduce burnout, and create more targeted, reusable content for businesses.

Doug and Jason explore how repurposing series episodes can supercharge your marketing, from email newsletters to digital books, and why podcasters should focus more on impact than on arbitrary consistency.
