For More Confidence as a Podcast Guest, Try This

Power, Confidence, Impact

When you stand for your podcast guest appearances, you let your confident voice flow!Have you ever been in attendance for a presentation where the speaker absolutely tore the house down? Their message was so impactful and resonated so dynamically, you knew you were a better person for having heard it. Everything just clicked.

What’s great about the world we live in today is we don’t have to be in the same room with someone to feel that kind of power. Audio and video mediums give us instant access to impactful content that can literally reshape and redirect many of the things we do in our day-to-day activities.

The podcast medium sees these types of impactful messages get amplified across its audio waves on a daily basis. Leaders and professionals are putting their expertise center stage for listeners in all corners of the globe to consume, making their message spread faster and their impact increase dramatically.

As a podcast guest, your job is to provide value to the audience and help the podcast host you’re collaborating with build a piece of content that hits home with their existing audience so strongly, they recommend it to others. When this happens, everyone involved with that episode gets better.

In order to deliver that value, you need to have a firm grasp on your message and tell your story in an engaging, compelling fashion.

Most of all, you need to speak from a position of power, impact, and confidence. When your voice is confident, it hits the audience in a different way. Not only do they believe what you’re saying, they begin to visualize putting your advice into practice and feel a transformation take place in their own world.

And in the end, that’s what people seek: a transformation. A change. A solution. Something that’s going to take them from Point A (the place they are right now that’s making them feel unhappy, unfulfilled, and lacking direction) to Point B (the place where problems are solved, life is easier, and freedom is a reality…not just a dream).

Time to Take a Stand

So how do you bring more confidence to your voice? Well, there are several facets to focus on. Being prepared for ANY speaking engagement will help. As will voice exercises and hydration.

But today, let’s start with a very simple tip for bringing more power, confidence, and impact to your voice: STAND UP!

When you stand, you create more energy.

It’s healthier for your body and heart.

Your diaphragm and lungs open up, eliminating restriction and letting your voice escape your body with much more power.

Your range of motion increases, allowing you to maximize your recording space and move around, thus keeping the body more relaxed.

If you have the ability to do so, try your next interview standing up. In order to utilize your camera, you can purchase a tripod, a standing desk (if you’re using an internal webcam), or even set your computer monitor or camera on top of a box or stack of books to elevate it to your height.

Is standing for your interview a necessity? Of course not. However, based on benefits I listed above, you may discover it to be a much more valuable way to project your message as a podcast guest.

Give it a try and let me know if it works for you!
