Game-Changing Tips & Strategies For More Powerful, Effective Communication

If you want to improve your communication skills, this episode of Stuff My Therapist Says will get you started on the right foot.

The Best Way to Improve Your Communication Skills Is…

If you ask me, happiness in life begins and ends with strong communication.

Think about it.

When communication is clicking on all cylinders and all parties have a clear understanding of what’s taking place, results and outcomes typically fall into place much more effectively.

When communication is lacking and no one seems to be on the same page, everything unravels.

It’s pretty simple on the surface, but effective communication is not easy…and it’s certainly not a skill you can master overnight.

If you want to improve your communication skills, there’s no better place to do so than via the podcast medium.

I’ll pause for a moment while you gain your composure from my undoubtedly shocking answer.

But it’s true. The skills that make you a great podcaster are the same skills that make you an effective communicator on stage, with colleagues, speaking to clients, and cultivating relationships with friends and loved ones.

The best way to improve your communication skills is to focus on active listening and having deeper, more meaningful conversations with those you connect with.Active listening.

Digging deeper for more engaging conversations.

Effectively relaying actionable information and strategy in a means that’s easy to consume and easier to implement.

I’m merely scratching the surface, but the evidence is overwhelming.

Ask any podcaster who’s been active in the space for an extended period of time and they’ll tell you how much more accomplished they are as speakers and communicators because of they committed to developing their skills on the podcast mic.

Myself included.

I had the pleasure of joining Sara Makin, Founder of Makin Wellness, on her podcast Stuff My Therapist Says for an in-depth conversation about communication.

I’ve been helping Sara produce her podcast since its inception and it’s been a pleasure to see how she’s grown as a host since she first put things in motion.

It’s becoming a tradition for Sara and I to sit down each season and rap about a specific subject and we kept said tradition alive with the action-packed conversation you can access above (audio) and below (video).

PLEASE NOTE: In no way, shape, or form am I a certified therapist of any kind, but Sara was kind enough to let me play one on her podcast.

That said, Sara has called me her “podcast therapist” in the past, a compliment that inspired my weekly Podcast Therapy episodes on Solo Podcasting Simplified.

If you want to improve your communication skills, this conversation between Sara and myself is a great place to begin.
